Hope this message finds you well. We’re writing from Long Island, NY. We’ve been pretty busy performing the last few weeks – been on the road since June 12th. Welcome to our new friends on the mailing list! We’ve just posted some new photos to our website (click the “photos” link and go to our roadtrip and NYC gig albums). We are now gearing up for our concert in the Washington, DC area next week. If you’re in the area, it would be great to see you. If not, but you have friends there, please let them know. We had such fun at our CD Release Concert at The Warehouse Theatre in DC a few months ago and are so looking forward to returning to our old stomping grounds. This will be our last concert for a while, because…
Well, I will be 7.5 months pregnant next week and we’re going to take a hiatus before my guitar performance becomes more like lap steel balancing on my belly (you can see pictures on the website as well). The baby is due September 15th and we have some dates set for late fall and expect to wind back up come early winter. We had to turn down some great opportunities, including performing “Please Help!” at an event for the Democratic National Convention in Denver because it’s past the time I’m allowed to travel. Oh, well. It’s probably too early to consider making it a musical trio with the baby, but you never know.
We’ll miss you during our break, but will send some updates as they come, and keep adding to the website. Wishing you a fabulous holiday weekend!

NEWS: We had a fantastic June and have been on the road since June 12th. Here are a few highlights:
- Kalamazoo Art Hop at Terrapin Imports – we had a great time playing Kalamazoo again during this great monthly art fest at the coolest of international boutiques. We met so many new folks in town – many of you are on this list now.
- One Trick Pony’s “Acoustic Stew Concert Series” in Grand Rapids, MI: such fun to split this bill with Annie & Rod Capps and see so many old (and new) friends from Grand Rapids. What a blast! It happened to be Dan, the owner’s, birthday, so the evening was especially festive! We also had a great time promoting the concert during an in-studio interview on WYCE with host Pete Bruinsma – thanks Pete!
- Noreast’r Music Fest in Northern Michigan was so much fun. We kicked off the festival with our friends Annie & Rod Capps backing us up. Throughout the weekend we split bills, backing each other up. John and I also did our first children’s show together, although our audience also consisted of older adults who are kids at heart.
- Folk on State Concert Series in Madison, WI. We’d been hoping to play this series for years and it was worth the wait. Right in downtown Madison. We had a great crowd of really supportive audience members. We even had our strangest audience member yet – a baby muskrat – and his caretaker.
- Googie’s Lounge. New York City! We loved playing The Living Room here a couple of years ago, and their upstairs venue, Googie’s Lounge, was just as cool. Nestled among the funky sites in the East Village, this was a great place to perform and hang out with old friends. (check out the photos on our website) Thanks to all of you who came out for our concert! We’d especially like to thank Hermetta Harper of Mettafour Records who drove up from Delaware for our show!
- "Please Help!"(co-written with Michael Crittenden) from Across the Sea was selected for the Music to Life Song Contest for the top 40 songs for social change. Peter Yarrow (of Peter, Paul, and Mary) was a judge. XM Radio featured the song on their "Music to Life Top 40" show hosted by Christine Lavin and aired May 20th & 24th! To learn more about the other songs/artists selected, visit: www.pdfoundation.org
- A live version of my song, "All That Matters" was selected be included on the the upcoming CD “Best of FOLK IT! 2007" as a fundraiser for the A3radio.com show, "Folk it!" hosted by Tom Saunders. This version is from an October 21st live radio show we did with Tom, and features Annie & Rod Capps on it. We're thrilled to be selected, and especially thrilled to support A3radio.com!! And... we'll let you know when it comes out.
