Milwood Concert Series 10/26
October 19, 2008

Happy Fall!

Hope you all are well. We're gearing up for our first concert since the birth of our son Michael Dylan Downey Austin. I've added some more photos to our photo page of his first outing, his first bottle, and my favorite of his funny faces. (See the post below if this is all news to you) Thank you so much for your well wishes!

We're really looking forward to performing again in Kalamazoo at the Milwood United Methodist Church's concert series Sunday, Oct. 26th. We'll be joined by our buddies Annie & Rod Capps - always a treat.

John's jazz fusion band, Jam-Lab, just released their sophomore album, "Gain" and it's getting great reviews. You can find out more about it and purchase it at: cdbaby.com/cd/jamlab, jam-lab.com

Hoping to see you soon!

Peace,

Allison

Earlier post:

Well in my last post I announced that our baby was due the next day.

Turns out... an hour later I went into labor. 22 hours (and no medication) later Michael Dylan Downey Austin made his debut into this world (right on his due date, September 15th)... 8 lbs. 1oz, 21 inches, and adorable.

We're unbelievably euphoric.

I've posted some photos on the website, under the "photos" link. There is one picutre from a few minutes before going

into labor and the rest with our little son. Check 'em out! Since then there have been new songs about hiccups, and sleeping (we call "Angel by day, Evil sleep-stealer by night") or lack thereof. I'll get out all the really sappy songs before we start back performing, though.

And, speaking of performing...

We've got some good news:
"All That Matters" on Across the Sea just won 2nd prize in the Great Lakes Songwriting Contest! They'll make the official announcement October 1st.

"All That Matters" and "More Than Human" will be included on a compilation CD to raise money for
Cystinosis Research Network, a very good cause.
For more info: please visit the website www.rockoutcrn.org/ for updates.

Cystinosis is a rare disease that primarily affects children. Cystinosis is a genetic metabolic disease that causes an amino acid, cystine, to accumulate in various organs of the body. Cystine crystals accumulate in the kidneys, eyes, liver, muscles, pancreas, brain and white blood cells. Without specific treatment, children with cystinosis develop end stage kidney failure at approximately age nine.

Peace,
Allison

Our friend, and fellow musician Brian Morrill (percussionist on "Across the Sea") is organizing the CD compilation and a free concert in Grand Rapids, Sunday Oct. 19th 4pm at Founders Brewery. His daughter, Megan is battling Cystinosis and deserves all our support.  For more info:

September news
September 14, 2008
Hello Everyone!
Hope this September finds you well, safe from all the climatic turmoil.
It's been raining in Michigan now for about 5 days straight.
We did have a wonderful tour this summer. An especially great time in DC for our Focus concert in Rockville. Thanks to all of you who came out for it, and to Sense of Wonder for sharing the bill with us.

We'll add photos soon.

Well... our baby is due tomorrow, September 15th, and we'll put up a post when I get back from the hospital.

In the meantime...
